Nestled unexpectedly within a bustling gas station at 1414 N Burlington Ave in Hastings, Nebraska, Nick's Gyros offers a delightful Mediterranean escape that stands out as a true culinary gem. Specializing in Greek, European, and Mediterranean fare, this casual spot is beloved for its generous portions, fresh ingredients, and bold, satisfying flavors that keep regulars coming back week after week.
The heart of Nick’s menu lies in its star attraction: the gyro. Whether you opt for the Traditional Greek Gyro filled with tender, seasoned meat wrapped in warm, homemade pita bread, or the inventive Philly Cheese Steak Gyro that marries Mediterranean roots with American comfort, each bite bursts with rich textures and vibrant tastes. The gyro is perfectly complemented by ample toppings—fresh veggies, creamy feta, and a luscious dollop of sour cream—creating a harmonious medley that’s both hearty and refreshing.
But Nick’s offerings don’t stop there. Fans rave about the Baklava, whose layers of flaky pastry and sticky sweetness provide a decadent finish to any meal. Equally tempting are the unique, crave-worthy sides like Fried Cheese and Gyro Sweet Corn Nuggets, which offer a delightful crunch and an irresistible savory contrast. For those looking to venture beyond traditional Mediterranean dishes, the Carne Asada Fries and the Nick’s American Gyro bring in fusion flavors that hit the spot with their bold, juicy profiles.
Authenticity resonates not only through the food but also via the unmistakable warmth of the staff. Customers frequently describe the friendly and attentive service that makes dining here feel like visiting a neighbor’s kitchen. The owner’s dedication shines through, ensuring satisfaction with every order and creating a welcoming atmosphere despite the simple, unpretentious setting. The eatery is located inside a gas station and, naturally, the ambiance reflects that—nothing fancy, just a practical, relaxed space with a casual charm perfect for a quick yet fulfilling meal.

Food is absolutely amazing this is a gold mine lunch spot for your Mediterranean fix. Its hot fast and FRESH. The ambiance is lack luster but its a gas station what do you expect? Skip the McDonald's across the street 10$ here goes farther than you think!
What an interesting find in a gas station! After entering the gas station, there is another large room on the north half of the building that houses Nick's Gyros and a Chinese restaurant (think small food court) with several tables and chairs/booths. The "traditional Greek gyro" ($11.99) was great, but it is a lot of food for one person. Two people could easily share one order. While we were asked if we were dining in or to go, we still received the gryos in large foam containers with hinged lids. Fountain Pepsi products are available (one size for $2.75). The older woman who took our order was kind of snarky in a trying-to-be-funny way, which was a bit off-putting, but the food was good and the dining area was clean.
This is our weekly go to dinner! Full filling and delicious. The owner always makes sure everyone is satisfied with their meal. The staff are friendly and polite most days. The only thing is it gets really hot in there in the summer time when the ac goes out. CPI runs that part. Other than that Nick’s is the best homemade pita bread for sandwiches.! Highly recommend!
First time to eat at this Nick's. Probably the largest Gyro I've ever had. Good value for the price, can make two meals out of it. Pita was good and veggies fresh and lots of meat. Feta and sour cream were ample.
For the third time in the span of a year we were able to make it down to Nick's Gyros and of course it didn't disappoint at all. The food was still absolutely fantastic and made quickly. Everything made absolutely fast as usual too. I cant state enough how much that we love this place. We literally travel to this place from far away to make sure that we can have it as well. Ive stated in the past about the Kearney location that shares the same name, but thats all they share. The Hastings location is above and beyond in absolutely every single way. The food is a monster size. The pitas are huge. The amount of meat that you get is fantastic as well too. Everything just always tastes fresh and thats what makes us want to come back. They also have the best mozzarella sticks we have had in the tri-city area as well when they're fresh. They're just fantastic and I recommend that everyone gets them with their order. I personally havent tried their traditional gyros but im sure that they're just as good.
I worked here in highschool and the only difference was the side of the room it was on— Quality was there! Did the owner proud with these, I’m sure. However the cheese was missing on the Philly so my fiancé, who I coerced into coming here, was a little disappointed - but my gyro was a blast to the past, 10+ years ago I moved away and I haven’t found one that comes close. Nick’s does it best!
